  35. Was ist AnPoCODEC? 
  36.  
  37. AnPoCODEC ist ein Zusammenstellung von Video (AVI) CODECs (COmpressor 
  38. DECompressor) f╨ær die Multimediaerweiterung MMPM/2 von OS/2 warp version 3. 
  39. Momentan sind in diesem Paket zwei CODECs enthalten:  AnPoMSVC unterst╨ætzt das 
  40. Video 1 8 und 16bit Format und AnPoCVID das wesentlich bessere Cinepak Format. 
  41.  
  42. Weitere Codierverfahren und Ein/Ausgaberoutinen (IOProc) f╨ær Bewegt- und 
  43. Standbild, sowie Audio Formate sind geplant, ob dies verwirklicht wird h╨öngt 1. 
  44. vom Bedarf und 2. von der Anzahl von "Unterst╨ætzern" ab. 
  45.  
  46. Ich bin ein armer hungernder Student der Informatik ;-), wer die Entwicklung 
  47. dieser Software unterst╨ætzen will darf mir einen Geldbetrag in beliebiger H╨ñhe 
  48. ╨æberweisen oder zuschicken. Ab DM 30.- werde ich mich dann mit dem zusenden 
  49. eines Keys und der neuesten Version(en) daf╨ær bedanken (wenn vorhanden email, 
  50. Compuserve, Fido (crashmail)Adresse und Post Adresse nicht vergessen 
  51. anzugeben!). Meine eigenen Adressen stehen unten.

  53. Wenn sich in diesen CODECs keine weiteren Fehler zeigen, wird es neue auf 
  54. Geschwindigkeit optimierte Version geben. 
  55.  
  56. Installation: 
  57.  
  58. "Multimedia Installation" aus dem Multimedia Ordner von OS/2 ╨ñffnen und als 
  59. Quelle das entsprechende Laufwerk und Pfad angeben.  Die gew╨ænschten CODECs 
  60. markieren und "Installieren" dr╨æcken um die Installation zu starten.  Von 
  61. diesem Text wird w╨örend der Installation ein Objekt in den Multimedia Ordner 
  62. gelegt.  Am Ende der Installation erscheint eine Meldung, da╤ü die CONFIG.SYS 
  63. ge╨öndert wird und anschlie╤üend ein Systemabschlu╤ü durchgef╨æhrt werden mu╤ü. Dies 
  64. schadet nat╨ærlich nicht, ist aber unn╨ñtig, weil in der CONFIG.SYS kein einziges 
  65. Zeichen ge╨öndert wird.

  67. Um den Text "unregistered" aus dem Fenster zu verbannen brauchst du einen Key. 
  68. Wenn du einen Key von mir bekommen hast, brauchst du nichts weiter zu tun als 
  69. auf diesen Schl╨æssel Doppelzuklicken und die entsprechenden Felder auszuf╨ællen.

  73. F╨ær Anregungen oder Fehlerberichte bin ich immer zu haben! Vorher sollte jedoch 
  74. auf jeden Fall ein Blick auf die Seiten h╨öufige Fragen und  bekannte Probleme 
  75. geworfen werden. In allen F╨öllen bitte immer CPU, RAM, Bussystem (ISA VL EISA 
  76. PCI MCA) und Grafikkarte (Chipsatz)+Grafiktreiber mit angeben damit ich mir ein 
  77. Bild von der verwendeten Hardware machen kann, um die CODECs entsprechend zu 
  78. optimieren.

  110. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.1. bekannte Probleme ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  111.  
  112.    1. Bei manchen AVIs gehen Bild und Ton nur stockend vorran. Dies liegt an 
  113.       Soundkartentreibern die Probleme haben kleine Soundst╨æcke (1kb) in der 
  114.       n╨ñtigen Geschwindigkeit abzuspielen. Ein Anruf beim Hersteller der 
  115.       Soundkarte tut hier oft Wunder. 
  116.  
  117.       F╨ær die Treiber der SoundBlaster Serie gibt es zumindest einen Notbehelf 
  118.       der dieses Verhalten bessern oder beseitigen kann: 
  119.  
  120.       Der DMA-Puffer des Treibers mu╤ü dazu verringert werden (je kleiner desto 
  121.       besser). Allerdings steigt dadurch die Systemlast beim abspielen von Ton 
  122.       auf kleinen Systemen nicht unerheblich an.  Beispiel einer CONFIG.SYS f╨ær 
  123.       Sound-Blaster 16: 
  124.  
  125.             DEVICE=E:\MMOS2\SB16D2.SYS 1 1 5 7 220 16 330 /N:SBAUD1$ /Q
  126.       Die hervorgehobene Zahl ist die Gr╨ñ╤üe des DMA Puffers, 
  127.       Standarteinstellung ist 4, minimal 1. 
  128.  
  129.       Eine weitere M╨ñglichkeit besteht darin mit dem "AVI File Utility" das 
  130.       beim VideoIn des BonusPak mitgeliefert wird die "Interleave Ratio" zu 
  131.       erh╨ñhen. Dadurch wird die Gr╨ñ╤üe der Soundbl╨ñcke im AVI vergr╨ñ╤üert und 
  132.       stellt somit auch kein Problem f╨ær schlechte Soundtreiber dar. 
  133.  
  134.       Eine andere M╨ñglichkeit bei einigen AVIs ist, w╨örend dem abspielen des 
  135.       AVIs 2x schnell hintereinander den Pauseknopf zu dr╨æcken. Wenn es nicht 
  136.       gleich gelingt nochmal probieren. 
  137.  
  138.    2. Bei 8bit "Video 1" werden momentan keine Paletten╨önderungen unterst╨ætzt. 
  139.       Das liegt daran das der zugeh╨ñrige Datenblock im AVI vom MMPM/2 der OS/2 
  140.       warp 3 einfach ignoriert wird. 
  141.  
  142.    3. Wenn eine ATI Grafikkarte mit einem MACH64 im Rechner sitzt, kann der 
  143.       Mauszeiger verschwinden, wenn er ╨æber das Filmfenster gef╨æhrt wird. Dies 
  144.       ist ein Fehler in den ATI Treibern. Es gibt neuere Treiber, bei denen 
  145.       dieser Fehler nicht mehr auftritt -> ATI anrufen und Treiber zuschicken 
  146.       lassen. 
  147.  
  148.    4. Non-Interleaved AVIs k╨ñnnen derzeit vom MMPM/2 nicht verwaltet werden. 
  149.       Ein laden dieser AVIs kann bis zu Situationen f╨æhren in denen nur noch 
  150.       der Affengriff (Strg+Alt+Entf) hilft.

  155.    1. Wo gibt es neue Versionen von AnPoCODEC?

  157.       Neue Versionen sind auf allen ftp Servern zu finden, die den hobbes 
  158.       spiegeln. In Deutschland ist dies z. B. ftp.uni-heidelberg.de im 
  159.       Verzeichnis /pub/os2/warp.

  176.    2. Ich kann den Film XYZ.AVI nicht abspielen obwohl ich AnPoCODEC wie

  179.       Das AVI hat eine Kodierung die momentan von keinem installierten CODEC 
  180.       unterst╨ætzt wird. Es werden von AnPoCODEC momentan nur AVIs mit dem 
  181.       handler msvc, MSVC und cvid unterst╨ætzt (Gro╤ü- und Kleinbuchstaben werden 
  182.       unterschieden!).

  184.       Um herrauszufinden welchen handler das betroffene AVI hat mu╤ü man es in 
  185.       das AVI File Utility von VideoIn laden und die View auf headers stellen. 
  186.       In der Gegend um den 4. Block steht der handler des AVIs. 
  187.  
  188.    3. Ich habe AnPoCODEC installiert, kann aber keinen Player f╨ær Windows AVIs 
  189.       entdecken? 
  190.  
  191.       Es kann jedes Programm benutzt werden, das mit dem MMPM/2 
  192.       zusammenarbeitet. Es ist also m╨ñglich den normalen OS/2 Videospieler zu 
  193.       benutzen. Genauso ist es m╨ñglich mit VideoIn aus dem Bonuspak einen Film 
  194.       vom z.B. Video 1 Format in Ultimotion umzurechnen, was eine wesentlich 
  195.       bessere Komprimierung zur Folge hat. Da aber praktisch alle verbreiteten 
  196.       Komprimierungsverfahren mit Qualit╨ötsverlust arbeiten wird durch eine 
  197.       Formats╨önderung die Bildqualit╨öt immer schlechter, da hilft selbst OS/2 
  198.       nichts ;-).

  214. What is AnPoCODEC? 
  215.  
  216. AnPoCODEC is a collection of video (AVI) CODECs (COmpressor DECompressor) for 
  217. OS/2 warp version 3 multimedia extension MMPM/2. At this time there are two 
  218. CODECs in this package: AnPoMSVC for Video 1 and AnPoCVID for Cinepak support.

  220. More CODECs and I/O procedures for still- and motion picture as for audio are 
  221. in planning, but the further development depends on demand and the number of 
  222. supporters.

  224. I'm a poor and hungry student ;-), if you want to support this Software, please

  235. Installation 
  236.  
  237. Open "multimedia installation" in multimedia folder and set source to the 
  238. position in which you placed the files. Select the items you want and press 
  239. "install", that's all. A object of this text is placed in multimedia folder 
  240. during installation. At the end of the installation process a window with a 
  241. message to shutdown your machine is poping up. Of course a shutdown does no 
  242. harm to your computer, but its useless. There where no changes made to the 
  243. config.sys too.

  245. If you want to rid of the "unregistered" text of the window you need a key. If 
  246. you got a key from me, all you need to do is to doubleklick on the key below 
  247. and fill out the entry field with your data.

  251. If you found any errors please tell me! But first please read the two pages 
  252. frequently questions and known problems. In all cases note your CPU, RAM, and 
  253. bussystem (ISA VL EISA PCI MCA) and your graphic card with driver. With this I 
  254. know on which hardware my software runs and i can optimze it in the right way.

  285.    1. Some AVIs are playing by fits and starts. This is a problem with bad 
  286.       sound drivers having problems with playing short soundpices in the needed 
  287.       speed. A phonecall to the company of your soundcard often does wonders. 
  288.  
  289.       There is a workaround for Soundblaster drivers. You can minimize this 
  290.       stuttering effect by reducing DMA buffers of this driver. Of course this 
  291.       idea is not very good, because it increases the overhead on playing 
  292.       sound. 
  293.  
  294.       Example of CONFIG.SYS for Sound-Blaster 16:

  297.       The emphasized number is the size of DMA buffer, default is 4, smallest 
  298.       size is 1.

  300.       Another way is to enlarge the sound blocks in AVI file. To do this load 
  301.       AVI File Utility (part of VideoIn in Bonuspak) and increase the 
  302.       interleave ratio. 
  303.  
  304.       A further trick on some AVIs is to press the pause button of the Video 
  305.       player twice quick. Try it again if it does not works the first time. 
  306.  
  307.    2. The pallette change of 8bit Video 1 does not work. This is because MMPM/2 
  308.       is simply ignoring the datablock containing the palette information. 
  309.  
  310.    3. At now it is not possible to play noninterleaved AVIs with MMPM/2. You 
  311.       can interleave them with the AVI File Utility.

  339.    2. I can't play the film XYZ.AVI before and after installing your codec?

  341.       The AVI do have an unknown compression algorithm to the system. The 
  342.       AnPoCODEC supportet handlers are "msvc", "MSVC" and "cvid" (case 
  343.       sensitive!). To find out which handler your AVI do have load it in AVI 
  344.       File Utility (part of VideoIn in Bonuspak) mark headers in view  menu and 
  345.       look under handler around the 3rd block.

  347.    3. I just have installed AnPoCODEC, but i can't find any player for it?

  349.       You can use every MMPM/2 aware program to play videos. This is of course 
  350.       the normal video player but VideoIn, Capella, DMPlayer and other things
